The path to the BEARE GREEN VILLAGE PLAN (which, ultimately, became known as the BEARE GREEN COMMUNITY PLAN) has, at times, been arduous, often fraught, frequently frustrating, but always rewarding.
The primary aim had always been to ensure that Beare Green continues to be a place that people want to live in, visit, and enjoy.
Beare Green is enviably sited in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is also one of the few villages in rural Surrey that possesses a railway station with a train service running directly to London.
The Village Plan is based on three complementary principles:
Since the summer of 2005,
all with the express purpose of creating a Village Plan that Beare Green could be proud of.
That point was achieved in August 2007 when the final version of the BEARE GREEN COMMUNITY PLAN became available.
At this point it is important to thank Mr. Julian Womersley for his sterling efforts in pulling together the various draft versions, additions and amendments before producing the final version of this very important document.
Use the links on the left to follow the journey. Read how, by comparing the Amenities available in Beare Green with those in two nearby villages, the residents were emboldened to ask for more.
Read the Census of 2001 for the village (published in 2004) to learn about the distribution of ages, property, education and more.
Read about the third Meeting on 2 October 2006 held in the Village Hall, when The Survey was discussed.
Read the questions that were asked in The Survey and the answers that were submitted, together with the motivations behind those answers.
Then, read the Final version of the BEARE GREEN COMMUNITY PLAN. This document contains much, much more than just The Plan. It also contains a wealth of background history, much of which many residents may be largely unaware.
