Beare Green Village is situated in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In the summer of 2005, Beare Green began drawing up a Village Plan to ensure that the village would continue to be a place where people want to live, visit and to enjoy. The plan would take advantage of changes in local council autonomy that had recently been announced. Here you can read about what was done (and why it was done) towards maintaining a village to be proud of. Use the links on the left to learn about the steps that were taken to finalise the BEARE GREEN COMMUNITY PLAN, as it came to be known.
Read about the amazing success of Capel Telephone Exchange (which serves Beare Green village) in BT's Race To Infinity competition in 2010. Over 360,000 votes were cast by exchanges all around the country and the results were announced by BT in February 2011. Click the Local Broadband News link to read more.
From October 2011, links have been added for local tradespeople serving Beare Green.
Historical Note: The shield in the top right-hand corner of these pages is the coat of arms for Walter de la Bere, a 13th century landowner who lived in the village and from whom the village derives its name. |
